Works from the sea.

Tidal drift is a series of watercolour paintings on paper, that explores the transitory beauty of marine plant species, that have been set adrift by the tides and which congregate in pools along the shoreline.

I am intrigued by the mystery of these under water species and the journey that they undertake. I am fascinated by their variety of colour and textures but also the rhythm, light and movement of the environment in which they exist.

With a considered approach to composition, format and the collaboration of water, pigment, paper, I have endeavoured to capture the ephemeral quality of this environment and provide a visual narrative that is both evocative and mysterious.
